Safety First: Stay off the black rocks near the water's edge. They are extremely slippery and rogue waves can wash visitors into the ocean. Use the new accessible viewing deck for safe, spectacular views.

The Award-Winning
Viewing Deck

Opened in October 2021 and designed by acclaimed Halifax firm Omar Gandhi Architects, the new 14,000 sq ft viewing deck is set directly into the granite landscape. It has won multiple awards including the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize and the AZ Award for Urban Design.

The cantilevered concrete platform projects 11 metres out from the rock, offering unobstructed views of the lighthouse and Atlantic Ocean. Fully wheelchair accessible with an adult changing table in the new washroom facilities.

The Village

A Living, Breathing
Fishing Community

Home to fewer than 30 permanent residents, Peggys Cove is one of the last authentic working fishing villages in Atlantic Canada. Lobster traps line the wharves, colourful boats bob in the sheltered cove, and the smell of salt air mingles with fresh seafood.

The village has been a protected heritage site since 1962. Please respect the community — do not block driveways, keep noise to a minimum, and support local businesses.
